Protesters on October 6, 2011 converged on Freedom Plaza in the United States' capital to establish another "occupy" camp and rally under the banner "Get money out of politics!" The "Occupy" protests started on September 17 with a few dozen demonstrators who tried to pitch tents in front of the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street, New York. Since then, Americans have planned "Occupy Together Meetups" in more than 500 cities across the nation. Al Jazeera's Monica Villamizar reports from Washington.

Riot police violently disperse Occupy DC with batons

National Park Service police began slowly dismantling the Occupy DC encampment at McPherson Square on K Street early Saturday morning. Over the course of several hours, cops asked protesters to leave while authorities in hazmat suits combed the park and removed tents. Despite protesters insisting that the temporary structures were in compliance with the latest regulations imposed on the demonstrators, the cops continued to clear out the park throughout the course of the day. With only a small section of McPherson still spared by late afternoon, authorities eventually moved in and used force to clear the rest of the park. Protesters, passersby and journalists alike were assaulted as cops clad in riot gear stormed into the crowd and attacked anyone on the scene. Here cops are showing forcing a group of people out of the park with plastic shields and batons, only for them to fall into the mud and be crammed into a fence that prevented them from easily vacating the premises. Several arrests were reported, including one photojournalist, and many others were injured in the raid, including one RT cameraman.

With gratitude to "eddieedgar" www.youtube.com for his invaluable help All our meetings are paired with ensuing goodbyes. Quiet and sad is the rill by a lone amber pine, Diffident powder's enshrouding the coals of the fire - Everything's over, the time for departure is nigh. Heart's desire mine, Sunlight of the forest, Whereabouts next time Will I run across you? Tents folded up their wings - their flight is complete. Seeker of partings, the plane has already spread wings. Slowly the gangplank is backing away, off the ship. Looks like a fissure is gaping between us, indeed. Heart's desire mine, Sunlight of the forest, Whereabouts next time Will I run across you? Don't solace me - spare your words and stop wasting your time. If I located that rill by a lone amber pine, If all a sudden a fire should light through the mist, Fancy, if, close to the fire, be waiting for me Heart's desire mine, Sunlight of the forest, Whereabouts next time Will I run across you?
