Press of Force: 'Police squash us like terrorists'

The banker backlash in the United States is spreading, with major rallies held in the capital, Los Angeles and several other cities. Thousands joined to express their anger at economic inequalities and high unemployment. The demonstrations began last month when protesters started pitching tents in front of the New York Stock Exchange under the banner 'Occupy Wall Street'. Earlier this week, heavy-handed police were filmed using batons and pepper spray to disperse the demonstrators. The aftermath of years of financial strife are causing people's patience to run out and they're angry at the banks for triggering it in the first place. Journalists who joined the campaign say the protesters will not stop demanding social and economic justice. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

Riot police violently disperse Occupy DC with batons

National Park Service police began slowly dismantling the Occupy DC encampment at McPherson Square on K Street early Saturday morning. Over the course of several hours, cops asked protesters to leave while authorities in hazmat suits combed the park and removed tents. Despite protesters insisting that the temporary structures were in compliance with the latest regulations imposed on the demonstrators, the cops continued to clear out the park throughout the course of the day. With only a small section of McPherson still spared by late afternoon, authorities eventually moved in and used force to clear the rest of the park. Protesters, passersby and journalists alike were assaulted as cops clad in riot gear stormed into the crowd and attacked anyone on the scene. Here cops are showing forcing a group of people out of the park with plastic shields and batons, only for them to fall into the mud and be crammed into a fence that prevented them from easily vacating the premises. Several arrests were reported, including one photojournalist, and many others were injured in the raid, including one RT cameraman.

And their numbers are only growing. Some are familiar with America the prosperous. Many are familiar with America the traditional. But with millions of Americans homeless, there are also those who only know America the broke. In the US state of New Jersey, picture-perfect homes can be found just 20 minutes away from tents put up in the woods, because the homeless do not have anywhere else to live. Former saxophone player Charlie Ericson told RT that he ended up there through his own mistakes in life. He is among at least 40 people who live in Tent City -- a homeless camp tucked away in the woods of New Jersey. Tragic destinies have led those forced to move here to call the village home. RT previously visited the camp in the winter and things have changed since then. More tents have appeared, some have come and others have gone.

Tent City Homeless Vacate Notice By Police - iCare-America

"What you do to the least of those, you do to me." iCare America videotapes the police passing out vacate notices to the homeless people living at Tent City in Sacramento, CA. The loss of self-esteem these people experience is magnified by the stigma of violating "laws" because of where they rest their heads. Imagine laying down each night in fear that you will be arrested and knowing there is no safe place to go. Its not right and we will do whatever it takes to bring integrity to this travesty - Val Jon Farris

We finally went on our camping trip to Governor Dodge State Park in Wisconsin, and got to use this wonderful tent. I got a lot of feedback on my first video so please enjoy this video. We had a good time and the tent held up proudly. The weather was rough, but this gave us a home we can now trust. Feel free to email me for any questions.
